Almost a third of generation Z men and boys think a wife should always obey her husband. By that, I mean a third of Gen Z globally, which includes countries like Indonesia, where 66% of all men think a wife should always obey her husband, as well as Sweden, where that figure sits at 4%.
As for the percentage of Gen Z men in Australia who think a wife should always obey her husband? We don’t actually know.
You’ve probably seen some of these statistics since the annual research by Ipsos and the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership at King’s College London was released last week. But as Crystal Andrews expertly broke down in her Thinking About It newsletter over the weekend, the poll leaves as many questions as it does answers.
While the research uncovers some disturbing findings, it doesn’t provide any country level demographic breakdowns, leaving us with aggregated statistics that combine countries that are nothing alike and, quite frankly, some pretty misleading headlines.
Why is this a problem?
